Fashion in the museum – program for children and adults

A special afternoon program at the Falkenhof Museum on Sunday, October 23, is aimed at both children and adults. With free admission, there is a lot to discover and explore around the theme of fashion. Starting at 2:30 p.m., art scouts will inform visitors on the various floors in the museum and will be happy to answer personal questions about the museum objects. At the same time, the open offer for children starts, who can make hat creations out of paper, feathers and glitter stones and also their own fashion jewelry in the museum studio. Afterwards, with the new hat on your head, how about taking a look in the rooms of the museum collection to see if you can find similar headgear in the historical paintings? Or would you prefer to take a family photo? Beautiful picture frames are available for this purpose.

At 16 o’clock then a lecture of the art historian Freya Nagelsmann (Rheine) is offered to the topic “Fashion in the change of the time”. The speaker, who has worked extensively on textile studies, will present characteristic clothing from the Baroque to the late 19th century and will include the portrait paintings in the Falkenhof collection in her lecture. A second lecture of Freya Nagelsmann will give it by the way on Thu, 17.11. at 18 o’clock, then to the topic wedding dress and to the social history of marriage and wedding.
