Family evening and workshop for children

An offer for the whole family and a workshop for children will make you want to rediscover two locations of the municipal museums in February. It starts on Saturday, February 19 at 6 p.m. with the family evening of the salt workshop. In the darkness of the evening hours, equipped with flashlights to be brought along by the participants, they will go on a discovery tour that will lead them to the original boiling pans and the old salt storage facilities in the Salt Boiling House, among other things. During the joint tour (maximum 15 participants), a museum guide will also reveal the secrets of salt production in the outdoor area. Afterwards, all family members can get active in the salt workshop and produce their own salt from the original brine in small pans. This will be attractively packaged at the end and taken home as a souvenir or to consume.

On Friday, February 25 from 3 – 5 p.m., a creative workshop for children aged six to ten will be offered at Museum Kloster Bentlage. In keeping with the “foolish” season, this time it’s all about carnival masks. In the attic of the museum, the children will get to work with museum educator Alexandra Dolezych and create a mask that can look as beautiful or as scary as they like. Materials such as acrylic paints, oil crayons, crepe paper and transparent paper will be used. Before the practical work, everyone will look at a special painting together in the Westfälische Galerie: it is called “Masks” and was painted by the artist Hermann Stenner more than a hundred years ago.

For both events a registration is necessary under 05971 – 920610. The cost is 3 € per participant. A medical mask or FFP 2 mask must be worn and adults must present a 2G certificate at the entrance to the Salzsiedehaus or Kloster Bentlage.
