Energy surcharge for low incomes

The cabinet announced December 10 that people on low incomes will receive an additional allowance, of around €200, to help pay for rising energy prices. This is in addition to the previously promised reduction in the energy tax, which applies to everyone. The municipalities will implement this extra energy allowance.

The municipality of Borne will receive information from the government about this allowance, after which an implementation regulation will be made as soon as possible. Then it will be clear who can make use of the scheme and how the allowance will be paid out.

Update March 14, 2022On Friday, March 11, the Cabinet decided to increase the one-off energy allowance from €200 to €800. In this way, people with an income around the welfare level will be helped better in coping with the higher energy bill. The municipality of Borne is awaiting the content of the implementation rules. When these are known, this will be communicated and we can start paying the allowance.
