Rheine. In recent weeks, associations, district advisory councils, kindergartens, schools and initiatives were called upon to take part in the fourth “Shaping the Future Together” district competition organized by the city of Rheine and the municipal utility company. The Civic Involvement Office, which coordinates the competition, received 21 applications by the closing date.
A jury consisting of Mayor Dr. Peter Lüttmann, Dorothee Heckhuis (Managing Director of Stadtwerke Rheine), Christian Kaisel (Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Stadtwerke Rheine) and Sebastian Kröger (MV-digital) now selected a total of 12 projects for implementation. Numerous creative and diverse project ideas did not make the selection and evaluation easy for the jury. As far as possible, one project from each local district was to be considered. Community, digitalization as well as sustainability and creativity were further evaluation criteria for selection.
The projects approved for the competition will be awarded start-up funding of €300 in the first stage. The project actors now have until the end of October to work on and implement their ideas. This will be followed by a further jury evaluation. A festive event, at which all projects will be awarded with cash prizes of up to € 1,000, will conclude the competition.
