Wreath-laying ceremony in memory of the Reichspogromnacht 84 years ago

On the occasion of the Reichspogromnacht 84 years ago on November 9, 1938, numerous citizens from Rheine as well as numerous guests from our partner city Borne commemorated in the evening all Jewish people from Rheine, who were deported and murdered in the various concentration camps in Europe.

On the site of the former synagogue at the intersection Neuenkirchener Straße/Salzbergener Straße they laid a wreath before a minute of silence.

Afterwards, the author of the Spiegel bestseller “Century Witnesses – The Message of the Last Heroes against Hitler”, Tim Pröse read at the Volkshochschule. He focused on Sophie Scholl, who would have turned 100 last year if she had not been murdered by the Nazis.
