Christmas books wanted

For the special Museum Day on Sunday, December 4, the Falkenhof Museum is currently looking for beautiful, old and original Christmas books from private households in Rheine. A Christmas book can be a volume of poems and stories, a novel set during the Christmas season, or even a cookbook or mystery novel. Many families have such Christmas books that are read with pleasure every year and evoke good memories.

Rheine Rheinens who would be willing to part with their Christmas books for 3-4 weeks are asked to contact the Falkenhof Museum at Tel 05971 – 920610 or by e-mail at . The Christmas books will be on display in locked showcases from December 4 to December 18 and can therefore be collected again before the holidays (until 21.12.). The museum will also gladly accept a brief written note as to why this particular book is so popular with its owners as a Christmas book.

The special Museum Day is a new event format: on December 4, Christmas books from private collections will be on display. Children can also try out two different printing techniques in the museum education studio starting at 2 pm. Bookbinder Günther Probst will present his craft from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Morriensaal, and afterwards, at 5 p.m., storyteller Christel Bücksteeg from the European Fairy Tale Society will enchant visitors young and old with seasonally appropriate fairy tales.
