Mr. Eric Markvoort received a Borns Bijtje from the hands of Mayor Jan Pierik. This happened Thursday, July 10 around 16.45 hours during the farewell in connection with the retirement of Eric Markvoort as director of Welbions. With this award the appreciation is expressed for his great commitment to the Born community.Eric Markvoort started as director of Woonbeheer Borne, which merged with Welbions. In his role as director of Woonbeheer Borne and later Welbions, he always kept an eye on the tenants in Borne. He wanted to stay close to the tenants to hear what was going on and what was going on. This enabled him to make the right choices for current and future tenants. Housing and care had to remain a natural combination in various places in Borne. Partly due to his efforts (in cooperation with the municipality and construction companies), more rental housing has been realized in the Bornsche Maten.In addition to his work as director of Welbions, Mr. Markvoort has made himself useful as a volunteer for Born society in many ways over the past twenty years. He was involved in many initiatives. For example, he was sponsor and ambassador of the Wielerronde Borne, but he was also a board member of the project ‘Borne voor Bornenaren’, where he was actively involved in bringing in donations. From these donations they bought groceries for less fortunate residents of Borne, who could not go to the food bank.He realized as chairman of the Foundation Friends of ‘t Dijkhuis several initiatives for the elderly in Borne. From his membership in the Rotary club Delden and Borne, he devoted himself to numerous projects. From participating in the weekend school “Toppers on Sunday” through the Zonnebloem to setting up a crèche for children in Bangalore.In addition, Mr. Markvoort is a member of the Advisory Board of the Bussemaker House, where he uses his knowledge and experience to strengthen the Bussemaker House as a museum and cradle of the textile industry in Twente. In his working life, Eric Markvoort has spent 28 years professionally at Borne and in addition, for twenty years as a volunteer he has performed all kinds of activities in the social and cultural field, which benefit Borne and its inhabitants. More than enough reason for the Welbions board to nominate Eric for a Borns Bijtje, rewarding his efforts for the inhabitants of Borne.
