This is a special milestone for the municipality Borne. The growth of the municipality confirms what many already knew: Borne is a fine place to live, work and play.
Mayor Jan Pierik is proud of the growth: “It is great to see that more and more people are choosing to live in the municipality of Borne. The goal is to grow to 30,000 residents. We ensure that new housing, accessibility and facilities go hand in hand with the growth of the population. In this way we are building together a future-proof municipality where everyone feels at home and the quality of life remains high.”
Facilities grow with the population
Population growth brings with it responsibilities. That is why the municipality is investing heavily in facilities and infrastructure. For example, construction is currently underway on the new sports center Borne-West, a modern school building for the Jan Ligthart School and a contemporary town hall. Borne is not standing still in the area of housing either. Plenty of new homes are being built in various locations throughout the municipality.
Growing with a plan
These developments tie in closely with the Environmental Vision, which is currently available for inspection. In it, the municipality outlines its ambitions and plans for the long term: how we want to deal with living, working, mobility, nature and sustainability in Borne. The growth to 25,000 inhabitants underlines the need for a clear course, in which there is room for development and preservation of the character of Borne. With the growth to 25,000 inhabitants, Borne underlines its ambitions: a lively, future-oriented municipality where it is good to live. Now and in the future.
