Appeal for donations by Caritas Rheine

In support of the suffering people in Ukraine

Rheine. cpr. The distress and suffering of the people in Ukraine due to the war are immeasurable. Day after day we receive cruel images of death, destruction and people on the run. Like many other aid organizations, Caritas Rheine supports the reception and assistance of refugees in Rheine. At the same time, this also wants to show solidarity with the people in Ukraine and calls for donations for humanitarian aid on the ground.

Caritas Rheine is linked to the network of the Rheine Town Twinning Association through various activities in child and youth welfare and assistance for the disabled and elderly. Under the motto “Friends help friends”, the twinning association of the city of Rheine has set up a donation account to help the people in Ukraine. Specifically, support is being given to the Lithuanian twin town of Trakai, which is twinned with the cities of Luzk and Ivano-Frankivsk in Ukraine. These cities – both located about 400 kilometers west of Kiev – are to be supported with aid transports. “Here we are convinced that we can help in a very targeted and effective way,” says Reiner Wellmann, chairman of the Rheine Town Twinning Association. With the first donations, a batch for medical care could already be brought to the cities.

Who would like to set a sign of the solidarity and support the suffering humans in the Ukraine can on the following donation account: DE65 4035 0005 0000 0642 53, Stadtsparkasse Rheine, keyword: “Spendenaktion Ukraine”, account holder: Städtepartnerschaftsverein Rheine.
