It was with great honor and pride that the Consulate General took part in the ceremony to award the “Heimat-Preis” to the Portuguese Association of Rheine.
Born 57 years ago at the hands of the first generation of Portuguese emigrants to arrive in North Rhine-Westphalia, the prize awarded illustrates the importance and contribution it continues to make to the cultural, social and sporting life not only of Portuguese and Portuguese descendants, but also of various other friendly communities.
Congratulations to its President, Mr. Augusto Coelho, but also to all those who over the years and on a daily basis have contributed to making the Association what it is today.
A word of thanks also to the #StadtRheine for the invitation and congratulations to the other honorees: #MusikvereinAltenRheine, #photohistorischenArbeitskreis and #blasorchesterrodde.
Finally, many thanks for the warm welcome I received from the Portuguese people present, in particular Nelson and Soledade Rodrigues, the authors of the photos.

(A message of congratulations and thanks from Consul General Elisabete Cortes Palma, who took part in the event).
