Families with children can discover the secrets of salt production in the salt workshop and on the salt mining grounds at Rheine. On Sunday, Jan. 7, a torchlight tour for young and old begins at 4:30 p.m. at the salt cookhouse, visiting the grading works and historic cooking pans. In the special atmosphere of the evening hours, you can experience how hard and adventurous the work of the salt boilers used to be, often working at night. After the tour, families can try cooking salt themselves in small pans in the salt workshop and take home their own salt at the end. The program lasts about 1.5 hours; the participation fee is €3 per person.

Bring flashlights! Because the number of participants is limited, we recommend signing up at the municipal museums Rheine at 05971-939 711.
