The IKW is an initiative of the German Bishops’ Conference, the Evangelical Church in Germany and the Greek Orthodox Metropolis. This initiative has existed since 1975, and every year in September, about 5,000 events take place in more than 500 cities and parishes.
The IKW with its numerous events is a living sign of how it can be possible to live together and grow together. It gives people the joy of living together and encourages them to shape social coexistence and look positively to the future.
